Designed for Optimum Schedule Flexibility
NC State offers undergraduate and graduate online and distance education courses in a wide variety of subject areas. These courses carry academic credits to meet NC State degree requirements or may be transferred to other colleges or universities.
Important facts about online and distance education courses:
- The number of seats in online and distance education courses is limited. The NC State Schedule of Classes gives the number of seats in each course. In most instances, the seating capacity cannot be increased.
- Course prerequisites are enforced. For Non-Degree Studies (NDS) students, NC State does not transfer in courses from other institutions. To confirm that you have the prerequisite, send an unofficial copy of your transcript from another institution to our Academic Advisor or contact the course instructor for permission.
- Many of the courses are open to any student who meets course prerequisites; some, however, are restricted to students enrolled in the degree or certificate program (such as Engineering Online, MBA Online, etc.) offering the course.
